Great Dinner with Immunity Inc.!

by Terrence on Mar.24, 2009, under Technology, Work

Immunity Inc LogoI just had a great meet and greet with the guys from Immunity Inc., makers of Canvas and other pen testing products.

I met with Alex and Dave (the owner) and they were really down to earth and fun folks to chat with.  We had an amazing meal at Ray’s In The City, which I later found out was a really great restaurant and highly rated.  I hadn’t heard of it before.

We purchased Canvas about a month ago and we’ve been happy.  There are definite cosmetic and reporting improvements, but the functionality is sound and it’s built on an extensible framework.  I’m excited to be working with the product and having the ability to reach out and “touch” the folks there.

If you haven’t heard of them check out their site: http://www.immunityinc.com (Makers of Canvas)

50 Pound Challenge

by Terrence on Mar.06, 2009, under Food, Life, Work

Ok, starting today I’m on a 50 pound challenge.

I’m going to do the following:

  • Record what I eat for Lunch Every Day on this blog.
  • Record My Workout Patterns
  • Make Changes to My Plan as Necessary but only to allow me to reach my goal.

Milestones:

  • Reaching the 20pound marker.
  • Being able to do 3 sets of 30 pushups and sittups.
  • Being able to run 2 miles without stopping.

That should be a good start.

Remove PCI Information From Databases After 90days!

by Terrence on Mar.03, 2009, under Life, Technology, Work

Payment Card Industry

Payment Card Industry

I’ve been thinking about this for a while now.  There are websites out there that have a lot of my PCI information in them.  I haven’t used many of these sites for years, but that information just sits there.

It should definitely be a requirement that if the PCI information has not been used for a given period of time you are required to purge it from your systems.

We might possibly make exceptions for financial institutions, but other than that I can see no reason to keep that information on hand.  The user can enter it again if need be.  It’s much safer this way.

GPEN Certified!!!

by Terrence on Mar.02, 2009, under Technology, Work

GPEN Certified

GPEN Certified

I’m am as of 11am today a GIAC Certified Penetration Tester.

For those of you who don’t know what that is.  I am certified by one of the world’s premiere security training organizations to go into a company and assess their network and computer security by breaking into systems and validating vulnerability findings.

I then report my findings to the company so that they can then fix all of the findings.

Back to Goals

by Terrence on Feb.22, 2009, under Work

Well, I’ve navigated away from my primary personal goals slightly.

Work has kind of altered my times a bit, so I was not able to get to the gym as often and focus on my goals.

So, yesterday started my new found drive to achieve my goals.

  1. Lose about 50 pounds. Off to a reasonable start on this one.
  2. Alter my diet, increase vegetable and water intake.
  3. Attain GPEN and CCNA certifications.

Very very busy!

by Terrence on Nov.22, 2008, under Life, Work

I feel like lately I’ve been extremely busy. I think this is a good thing because if I wasn’t busy, maybe I wouldn’t have a job and someone I love filling up my time. It makes sense. So I like being busy. This weekend is the first weekend in a while where I’m just doing chores and hanging out.

I actually miss going to my bf’s house and hanging out though. I like the activity and people to always do something with. Usually a rousing game of Trivial pursuit where boys rules and girls drewl!

Haha, I’m domesticated I suppose, but I love it!

Work has been CRAZY lately! I’m been working on a education program with my colleague on Security Awareness. It’s such a cultural change to get these things through though… It’s wierd.

Anywho, I’m off to finish up some cleaning and trying to figure out how to get rid of some of my stuff. I need to pair down.
