A Game for Getting to Know People
by Terrence on Mar.29, 2009, under Life
The Game
Take turns asking and answering the questions below. There are no exact rules. The idea is to have fun mostly with just the conversation. You can modify questions for younger children. You can introduce drawing or painting, singing or charades. You could throw a bean bag back and forth each time you do a new question? You can do this standing, sitting, or walking. It can be played inside, outside or over the phone. It’s not a competitive game. It’s a game of fun, warmth, and relationship building.
Print out the questions below. You can either take turns asking questions you like from the list or you can randomly choose numbers, whatever works for you. If other questions follow naturally, all the better. Let the conversation flow! Let us know how you modify the game for more fun!

Getting Rid of the Dead Weight
by Terrence on Sep.12, 2008, under Life
Since I got rid of the dead weight, I’ve saved SOOOO much money on food. I guess it adds up when you always have to pay for someone else’s food as well as your own because they are too much of a loser to get a real job for over a year and then when they do get a job they start drinking and then do some really stupid shit.
Anyway, things are looking so much better. I met a really great guy, he’s super duper (wow that’s the first time I’ve every said super duper), I’m financially sound (not that that’s ever been an issue), and I should have enough money for a down payment on a home soon.
So we’ll see how it all pans out. So far, things look good.
Feeling flabby today!
by on Jun.18, 2008, under Uncategorized
Gees, I went to the gym around 6pm and did some cardio before my training session. I actually didn’t feel exhausted after. I think I’ve been eating too much salt this last couple of weeks. I’m going to cut back and see if the bloated feeling goes away.
On a side note, I’ve really neglected keeping up with my friends back home. I’m going to have to get on that. I’ve met some really cool folks here in town. I’m excited about the new Movie Night I’m a member of. It’s a good group of guys from what I’ve seen.
My friend Ben’s partner is really nice. They seem like the perfect couple. I’ll find that one day… SOON! haha
Well, I’m just playing around with my new laptop. This sucker SCREAMS! I can play all my online games and such on it, so that’s a plus.
The graphics are awesome. I need to purchase an additional HDMI cable. I’m wondering if I have one already… I doubt it. They are so expensive in the stores. I’ll find one online.
I was thinking about having my friend Katie over since he girlfriend will be out of town for the remainder of the week. Leaving us both all alone… sad! haha
Actually they both deserve a break, Shelly just has a bit more free time since school is out! SLACKER!
I hope she has a blast on her trip. Katie and I will go romping around the city while she’s away! Getting into trouble, or gorging ourselves with food. Probably the latter! I’m soooo hungry! *taking a deep breath* No I’m not hungry, I’m just thirsty…
Well… that’s it for me for the time being. I’ll probably post some videos or something later.
Dinner at HOME Blais’ new Restaurant
by on May.30, 2008, under Uncategorized
It superb. The portions seem small for the price, but this is fine dining after all, so the price will be a bit higher.
First I had a cocktail of the Raspberry Lemonade with Kettle One.
I then had an apetizer of deviled duck eggs, three with one topping each of fine bacon, pork, and tomato. These are excellent. I made quick work of them!
I then ordered the New York Strip. It was good, a bit salty and overdone for rare. I always get my steak rare, I don’t know why. It just tastes better, I’m a vampire I suppose… haha. It came atop a bed of truly creamed corn and I substituted veggies for fried onion rings I believe.
I had a couple of bites of the deserts, but I wasn’t too impressed with those.
I would highly recommend this as a date night place. I would get desert somewhere else that you really enjoy.
The food is rich and heavy, but the quantities will even that out. Not a place for dieters! haha
It was delicious!
Black Bean Hummus
by on May.27, 2008, under Uncategorized
Went on a white water rafting trip and the guides had made this for us. This is my interpretation.
-
1 16oz Can Black Beans, drained
-
1/2 16oz can Chick Peas, drained
-
5-10 Kalamata, Green, or Greak Olives, to taste
-
Salt, to taste, the olives have a lot of sodium usually
-
1-2 tbsp of Tahini, to taste
-
1 clove Garlic
There are two ways of doing thing one.
-
Food Processor: this will produce a less smooth hummus.
-
Process the garlic in the food processor until minced.
-
Add the beans, process until a paste.
-
Add tahini, process until blended
-
Add Olives, process until blended
-
Add chick peas and blend until thickened.
-
-
Blender: makes for a very smooth hummus
-
Place all ingredients, except Chick Peas into blender, blend until smooth.
-
If the hummus is still soupy, add chick peas and blend until thickened.

The Food We Eat
by on May.27, 2008, under Uncategorized
Now, I don’t believe that only eating raw foods all the time will cure you of things, but it will help give you nutrients that you probalby aren’t getting. I take a vitamin, so that helps.

-
In a kettle, add oil and cook bacon, diced ham, chopped onions, minced garlic cloves, and chopped celery. Cook until the vegetables are soft, about 30 minutes.
-
Add the beans, brown rice, cayenne pepper, italian seasoning, cumin, and chicken broth. Bring to a boil, reduce the heat, cover, and simmer for 2 1/2 to 3 hours.
-
Cool, then process in a blender or food processor, pureeing until smooth. Return to the kettle and heat through stirring in white wine and sherry.

Vegan Tomato Soup

1 tablespoon olive oil
1 onion, finely chopped
3 stalks of celery, finely chopped
1 carrot, shredded

-
Add the tomatoes and basil. Simmer over low heat, stirring occasionally, until tomatoes are softened.

Makes 4 servings.

- Olives
- OMG, I LOVE OLIVES. It would be my vice food. It’s wierd I know. - Color Blue
- I know, it’s cliche, but I’ve always loved blue. - Photography.
- I adore photography. I bought myself a Nikon D80 a few months ago and still haven’t had a chance to really take it out for a spin. I need to plan that. - Travel
- I’ve literally traveled the world. Since I was about 14 I’ve been everywhere from New Zealand and Australia to Europe and the Carribean. I still need to go to ASIA and South America. Possibly Africa if I’m up for it. - Sailing
- I’ve been an avid Sailor since I was about 10. I started with sailing camps by my house in New Orleans and I hope to get a boat one day so that I can go on sailing adventures! - Movies
- I love watching good movies, I love watching bad movies… I just love watching movie. - Cooking
- I am an amazing cook. I haven’t had any issues cooking anything really, I just love it. I still need to experiment a bit, but if it’s a recipe I’m on it! I healthify things when I get a chance. And yes, I just made up the word healthify! - Computers
- If you know me, this is a given. I love technology and seem to accumulate a lot of it. I have 4 computers in the house, two of which are laptops, two desktops. One is a media server for the TV, the other is just a big daddy computer, which oddly enough I don’t use often. - Cycling
- I’ve gotten out of it, but I have two bikes and I used to cycle all the time in Baton Rouge when I went to college. I’ll get back into after my legs recover from my personal training. Maybe I’ll ride it to the gym, it’s not too far. - Swimming
- Ok, I’m a little shy about my body at the moment, I gained weight in college now I’m working to get the shit off. I’m about 40 pounds over where I want to be. So I have a tangible goal and I think it’s going well. - Eating
- Ah, yes my downfall is that I love eating. I love food, I grew up in New Orleans so it was just ingrained in the culture. Culinary extravagance. - Cuddling
- I’m a spontaneous cuddler. The mood hits me and I just want to curl up with someone I love and cuddle. Usually when it’s chilly and there is a blanket available. - Reading
- I’m a voracious reader. I read mostly fictional/sci-fi/fantasy for my personal enjoyment. I read enough non-fiction for work that I rather get most of that from documentaries honestly.
- Currently working on a few books, one of which is the Summoner Series Book 2. - CSI Original
- I like the original CSI TV Series. I like mysteries and the methods of solving them. - Board Games
- I LOVE board games. It’s a way to get a group of friends or people together and break the ice and have fun. - Book Stores
- I’m like the proverbial kid in a candy shop when I’m in a book store. I love to learn and I love to read. Two very expensive things when in a book store. I’ve been known to spend at least 2 hours and buy like 10 books when I’m in the mood. - Video Games
- I like them much. They give me something to do when I’m bored and there is that whole solving puzzles and problem thing that I like to do. - Friends
- I love the friends that I do have. Most are back home in Louisiana, but I’m working on making more friends here in Atlanta. It’s actually pretty hard to do. I’m surprised. - Road Trips
- I like just hopping in the car and heading off to a destination. It’s a way to experience the in-betweens! Plus you bond with the people you are with, or you fight with them… just depends… haha! - Art
- I love art, mostly digital art these days. I just find some of the things people can create from imagination AMAZING! I just can’t afford it usually! haha - Touch
- I love being touched. I am usually shy about it though. But I love physical contact. Not in a perverted way, but it makes a connection with someone. - Massages
- I love to give and receive massages. They are GREAT and healthy! Get that blood moving, get those toxins out! - Short Hair
- It’s an odd one, but I like short hair. - Intellectual Conversation
- I like intellectual conversation about anything really. It shows me how much there is left to learn as well as how much I already know. - Money
- I like having it when I can save up some. Who doesn’t? It isn’t the end all for me, but it keeps me safe. I’m trying to save up for a house. That will be a ways off. - Love
- I like to give it and I LOVE to get it. It makes me feel a sense of worth and comfort.
More will come…
Missing the Homeland – Ireland
by on May.14, 2008, under Uncategorized
I used to try to go to Ireland once a year, but since I’ve graduated college I haven’t been back.
I love Ireland! It’s where my people come from!
Let’s see, why do I love it so much? Let’s see if I can list just a few things.
- Music (Trad Sessions) – You literally go into almost any pub on certain nights and they’ll have some local talent (and usually anyone can join) playing traditional irish JAMS! It’s really awesome, if you travel there you MUST go check one out.
- Food - No more meat and potatoes, the cuisine in Ireland since they’ve moved to the Euro and boosted their economy has exploded! They have everything you could possibly imagine. And the atmosphere in most places is astounding! It could be anything from a cozy cottage to a lavish dining hall!
- People - I LOVE THE PEOPLE! They all have blue eyes, or most do anyway, and I’m a sucker for blue eyes. They have a great love of human interaction and socializing. They care about PEOPLE and not the individual. I did not encounter a mean Irish person while I was there.
- History - OH MY GOD!!! The history is just EVERYWHERE! I can’t even describe the history just billowing from every corner! They respect their history and cherish it! They preserver almost anything they can.
I will need to plan a trip back to Ireland, maybe for longer than just a few weeks.
